God's Prayer

The Sacred Task of Living

Finalist Best Religious Book Award 2012

New Mexico/Arizona Book Awards

God's Prayer by Michael Kagan reaches the deepest spirituality through prayer/poetry, modern day Psalms that guide the reader into realms seldom reached. These prayers are for all humanity and cut across religious lines to include Jews, Christians and Moslems. Michael Kagan leads us to pray for all God’s children and for all life.

Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi, the founder of the Jewish Renewal movement, speaking of Michael Kagan in God’s Prayer says,
Deeply listening to the inner voice; placing himself into his own and other traditions; listening to the outcry of Mother the Earth; being sensitive to the voice of the feminine presence. He shares with us a treasury debt issued from the divine source.

Rev. Richard Cizik, President of the New Evangelical Partnership for the
Common Good says,
God’s Prayer is a unique inter-faith challenge that befits a Teacher who has lived what he preaches. I have been with Michael in far-flung places, in gatherings with Hindus, Buddhists, Shintoists, and Seculars to see his gift at work, encouraging, healing, admonishing and instructing. Hence, my great admiration and love for him as a friend, moral teacher, and modern-day Prophet.

Ghassan Manasra, Sufi Sheikh in the Qadiri Sufi Order, Nazareth
In these prayers, we can see the direct influence of the light that is hidden inside us, the light that is still connected to the hidden reservoir that can bring us to the highest possible knowledge – that of knowing ourselves. And according to tradition: The one who knows himself knows his Master. This is the highest possible prayer that can bring us into a direct connection with the Divine essence.

Michael L. Kagan is a teacher of Holistic Judaism and author of the Holistic Haggadah (Urim) and editor of All Breathing Life – At the Interface Between Poetry and Prayer (Gaon Books). His teachings are featured in the film Seasons of the Soul (Throughline Productions). The German version of God’s Prayer - Das Gebet Gottes - was published by Verlag Herder. He is ordained as Maggid (Teller of Holy Tales), Moreh (Teacher of Torah) and Mashpiah (Spiritual Intervener) by Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi. He has a Ph.D. from Hebrew University in chemistry and is a serial entrepreneur and inventor. He lives in Israel with his wife Rabbi Ruth Gan Kagan, his five children and four grandchildren.
